Taking the lead
After just a year, I could see a lot of change in myself and in my classmates. I was much more willing to take risks and to take the lead. I spoke up and built my confidence. It was wonderful to see all of us growing into the people we want to be.
Being VP of Admissions for the MBA Association was an opportunity to lead through influence and motivation. I navigated that space using skills learned in class and got to experiment with different leadership styles.
Diversity isn’t always reflected in academia, so it was refreshing to see Professor Kellie McElhaney teaching Women in Business. She is an amazing role model and was completely open about sharing her personal and professional journeys with us.
Treks near and far
When I told friends and family about the treks we took to fabulous Silicon Valley companies like Google and Facebook, they were jealous.
On the China Trek, we did all the touristy things, but the classmates who organized the Trek, also arranged visits to Baidu and HTC headquarters. We even got to have tea with the vice president of Taiwan—definitely not touristy.
