Coming to Haas means joining a vibrant, thriving community of fellow students, alumni, staff, and faculty. From networking mixers to annual conferences, guest speakers to school-wide events, there's always something happening at Haas. And, as a member of the active Berkeley MBA student community, you will have the opportunity to not only attend these stimulating and exciting activities, but also to participate in creating and planning them. Consumption Functions bring together the whole school for food, fun, and camaraderie.
UC Berkeley and Berkeley MBA students have a long tradition of social responsibility and a commitment to creating a better world. Almost the entire MBA class participates in Challenge for Charity events – talent shows, charity auctions, and sports competitions to raise money for the Special Olympics and other organizations. Many Berkeley MBA students volunteer as mentors for disadvantaged high school students through the Young Entrepreneurs at Haas program (YEAH). Nearly 100% of these high school students go on to college, many to top schools.
Dozens of individual and team competitions challenge students to come up with solutions to real-world challenges. Competitions created by Berkeley MBA students include the Berkeley MBA Latin Business Challenge, the Education Leadership Case Competition, and the Global Social Venture Competition. Students also gain experience through LAUNCH, the UC Berkeley Startup Competition.
