Veteran Community at Berkeley-Haas

Veterans & Military

Veterans who come to Berkeley-Haas join a strong, tight-knit community driven by shared values. Our strong culture is rooted in our four Defining Principles: Question the Status Quo, Confidence Without Attitude, Students Always, and Beyond Yourself.

At Haas, we understand that making the transition from the military to the civilian world can be tough and intimidating. That's why our Career Management Group—and our highly supportive Veteran's Club—is dedicated to helping you explore and determine what industry and function is the right one for you.

Berkeley-Haas is proud to offer U.S. military service members (active duty and veterans) an application fee waiver. Send completed forms to mbaadm@haas.berkeley.edu and include documentation of service or certificate of eligibility when you apply.

Student Clubs

Haas Veterans Club

The Haas Veterans Club welcomes veterans, students pursuing careers in the defense industry, and anyone interested in learning about military service. The club focuses on four core goals:

  • Supporting club members as they transition from the military to the civilian sector.
  • Mentoring prospective military applicants to the Berkeley MBA program.
  • Connecting club members into the professional military network.
  • Serving the Haas, UC Berkeley, and Bay Area communities.

Financial Aid

Benefits for Veterans and Military

As part of the public University of California system, the Berkeley MBA is one of the few top MBA programs in which students can take the greatest advantage of Post 9/11 Benefits.

Depending on qualifying length of service, veterans can obtain funding for up to 100% of resident assessed tuition & fees, a monthly housing allowance, and an annual book stipend of up to $1,000.

Berkeley-Haas is also a proud participant in the VA's Yellow Ribbon Program, which offers a matching fund option for U.S. military veterans who served at least 36 months, and qualify for 100% of the Post 9/11 GI Bill benefit. The program provides funding for any gap in tuition and fees not already covered by the VA or other fee-specific award.
