MBA/MCS
To empower the next generation of sustainability and climate leaders, the Haas School of Business and the Rausser College of Natural Resources partner to offer a concurrent degree program leading to an MBA and a Master of Climate Solutions (MCS).
The MBA/MCS degree is designed for early-career professionals who plan to take their careers to a higher level of business leadership, grounded in understanding of sustainability and climate change challenges and opportunities. The program aims to develop critical skills and knowledge in climate data science, carbon accounting, and lifecycle analysis, as well as technological and nature-based solutions.
Students in the MBA/MCS cohort will spend the first year completing MBA core coursework at Haas before moving to classes at Rausser. All MBA/MCS students will participate in a semester-long capstone program that gives students the opportunity to partner with real organizations across business, government, and non-profit sectors.
This innovative program prepares students to be change agents and leaders in businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies.
During the first year, students will enroll in the MBA core courses alongside their fellow full-time MBA classmates. While enrolled in the core, they'll also participate in the Master of Climate Solutions Colloquium, which is a year-long series of speakers, outings, and events. The colloquium, which will feature guest speakers including leaders in sustainable business, as well as site visits to businesses and public agencies, is designed to create connections between the MBA core materials and climate topics during the first year.
In their second year, MBA/MCS students will fully immerse themselves in the Master of Climate Solutions program, together with MCS standalone students, creating a strong cohort. They will take both business and climate/sustainability courses and a project-based capstone course.
The capstone and the colloquium, which are required for both standalone MCS and MBA/MCS students, are explicitly designed to tie together content, themes, and skills that cut across business and climate/sustainability, to ensure practical application of core ideas, and to facilitate contact between students and practitioners. The capstone projects will address a practical climate-related challenge or opportunity faced by a real organization, including private businesses. This experience will leverage the core climate skills and knowledge taught in the MCS, as well as the leadership and business skills emphasized in the MBA. Students will apply their learned skills to generate a solution to a real climate challenge.
During their final semester, students will focus on completing 12 additional units of MBA electives. MBA/MCS students will be positioned to take advantage of the opportunities in both Rausser College and Haas School of Business for a full five semesters. Unlike the MBA only peers, the MBA/MCS students get to have two summers of internships and other experiences.

- MCS Spring Capstone also fulfills the MBA Applied Innovation elective requirement

MBA/MPH
Recognizing that health care is an inherently interdisciplinary field, the Haas School of Business and the UC Berkeley School of Public Health partner to offer a concurrent degree program leading to an MBA in Health Management and Innovation and an MPH in Health Policy and Management.
The 30-month MBA/MPH program is highly selective, accepting approximately 20 students per year. The five-semester curriculum is fully integrated, such that students take both MBA and MPH classes simultaneously and have the opportunity to complete two summer internships.
This innovative program prepares students for senior positions in a variety of health-related industries, including care delivery, insurance, biotech, consulting, pharmaceuticals, and social impact.
During the first semester, students begin the MBA core and take Healthcare in the 21st Century, the dual-degree foundation course. Following the first semester, students are free to choose how they wish to complete their remaining academic requirements.
MBA Requirements (45 Units)

MPH Requirements (32 Units)
- 3 MPH core courses (additional core courses waived due to overlap with MBA core)

Students pursuing the dual MBA/MPH degree must complete 80 total units. The remaining 3 units can be completed with an additional MBA, MPH, or other UC Berkeley graduate course.
