There were several finance clubs at Berkeley-Haas, but no private equity club until Zoe Zhu and several classmates organized one. In 2010, the new club organized a leveraged-buyout competition for students. Plans for next year include teach-ins and a mixer with local alumni who work in the industry.
"Although I liked my work in the banking industry, I was curious about other industries. I felt that getting an MBA would allow me to explore the familiar, while still leveraging the finance expertise skills I had acquired."
"Some of my classmates are preparing themselves for the roles that MBAs traditionally play in business, but even more of them are equipping themselves with the skills and tools that will be needed in emerging businesses. Berkeley-Haas is perfectly positioned to meet the needs of all students."
"Innovation isn't just about generating new ideas. It's also about execution, about having a structured process to get those ideas out into the marketplace. Berkeley-Haas helps you understand both sides of that equation."
"We had almost 50 people on this year's China Trek over winter break. We took them to Shanghai and Beijing. We visited everything from an aquarium to major real estate development sites. Berkeley-Haas alumni joined us at dinner, and everyone got a real sense of what daily life is like in China. I loved getting to show off my hometown."
