Christian Eder came to Berkeley Haas to transition his career from structured finance into real estate finance or investment banking. To get his internship, he knew that the more bankers he could meet, the better. The Career Management Office and the searchable Haas Alumni Network helped him target his search and reach the people who could make a difference.

"The Haas Alumni Network is ‘golden.' When a firm visited campus that interested me, I would search the database for Haas alumni who worked there. Almost everyone I contacted replied, and everyone who replied was willing to meet or talk with me."

"The Career Management Group was always on top of the key dates and activities we should be doing in our internship searches. Their reminders and workshops kept me organized. And the second-year career coaches were a great resource. They gave good advice and useful mock interviews. I'm looking forward to returning that favor next year when I'm a career coach."

"Professor Nancy Wallace's class in Real Estate Finance & Investment was tremendous. My team got a real taste of consulting. We worked with a property owner who has a building near Telegraph Avenue that he wants to develop as student housing. We addressed every aspect of the project, from the best use of the property to the number and type of units and the amount of rent. It also was a lesson in redevelopment policy and Berkeley politics."

"I think my fiancée knows as many people as I do among my classmates. Whether it's getting together for a beer or for a big gala event, it's nice that she feels completely welcomed at Haas."
